Not the X7 Model

This is not the X7 model despite having the same price that other retailers sell the X7 for, and one product image that shows the X7. This one does not have the rubberized handle and the blade is darker than the X7's finish. Still works well, but the price should be lower since it is a slight downgrade from the actual X7, and the misleading product image should be removed from this listing by CT.

Q: Is the 2021 version of the Fiskars Hatchet 14 inch, part #059-6711-4, part of the X series from Fiskars, specifically the X-7? One picture shows a black & orange handle with X-7 seen, the other shows an all black handle with no X-7 markings? Thank you.

A: I just bought this hatchet and I had the same question as you. I tried researching and my best guess is yes, this is the X7. Not sure if this is an older version of an X7 but the shape, length, weight, etc. All match an X7. It does not say X7 on the hatchet.

A: Technically you could throw any axe but this one is more of a working axe not the sporting/throwing one. My guess is that the carbon shaft will stand up to most wood handled axes as well.

A: FYI the X5 is an 8" long "hand axe", which means the handle would stop roughly where the "Fiskars" logo ends on this X7.

Q: What kind of oil is recommended for maintenance? Secondly, I don’t plan to use it unless necessary (it will be in the back of my SUV in case of emergencies when I am up on FSRs). How often is it recommended that I oil it in that case?

A: Wipe it with mineral oil or if you plan not to use it for a really long time and where you store it maybe humid try a thin layer of vaseline. Hope this helps. It is a good hatchet.
