Handy LED light fixture - Great Value!

I've installed numerous of these lights at my home and cabin and have gifted a number of them to friends because they are so useful and inexpensive. It's an ideal light over the workbench. Yes, the switch is close to the fixture but you can work around that if that doesn't work for you. Particularly when it's on sale, it's too good to pass up. It's light, easy to mount/hang and is energy star rated (which mean that here in the Yukon it's eligible for LED bulb rebates).

Yes, I recommend this product.

Nice LED lighting for the price

I just installed two of them in my basement. As others have mentioned, having the switch up near the light fixture can be inconvenient for many. What I did was this. I installed a lampholder adapter with two electrical outlets on a ceiling light. I plugged these LED light strips into that. Now they are all controlled by the regular wall switch. My ceiling is low enough that I can reach up and turn them off manually, if needed. I am going to buy one or two more lights and do the same in another corner of the basement. For the price, they are a really nice lighting solution on the cheap.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Bought one a ways back and love it. Grabbing two more today. AMAZING value when on sale. And they go on sale often...

Yup... stupid design

Agree w/Bandi53 - what a stupid design. Instructions show how to ceiling mount w/screws or supplied hangar wires, but HOW are you supposed to turn it on/off w/the switch in the cord at the light?!?! Is bright & instant on, but will see how it works in garage in winter.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Q: How bright is this light, and what colour is it?

4 Answers
  • A: In case the questioner is seeking some reference point as to light output of this product, it would be ~slightly~ higher than a 100 watt incandescent bulb.

Q: Does the cord have a switch? I recently bought a similar one, the box said it had a switch, but when I opened it up there was no switch on the cord. Very inconvenient having to pull the plug all the time.

  • A: Not sure why the discrepancy, but I got a couple of these last week & they DID have a small black rocker switch right near the end that plugs in . . .

  • A: No these cannot be daisy chained together and they do not have a plug to plug another light into it.

Q: Can they be attached to the T-Bar grid of a suspended ceiling

1 Answer
  • A: Not to the grid per se, but if one were to use the supplied wire snaps, this unit could be suspended just above where a typical lens would sit in the channels to allow the light through. The only caveat then would be to keep the wiring to code by running the connecting AC line back to a switch, which itself would presumably run back to a circuit breaker. HTH

Q: Interesting that wattage is not disclosed; this is critical information to understand LED intensity aside from lumens and color brightness (4000k approaching daylight)

1 Answer
  • A: This item uses 19 watts. Please see attached image and spec sheet.

Q: Can 5 of these be lined up in series, with one switch?

1 Answer
  • A: No, they can be run in parallel. You would need to run multiple receptacles (or hard wire them in) controlled by one switch if you wanted to operate them simultaneously.
