    Expandable tent pole

Ordering the pole online and then picking it up in the store the next day was very handy. Regretfully they are discontinuing this product so we appear to have bought the last one in the Canadian Tire system. Have not yet used it but expect it to be a good replacement for an old broken aluminum tent pole. Seems to be sturdy enough for our purposes.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Sturdy poles

I took two of these camping for 4 days and used them to hold up one side of a tarp. They survived pounding rain, very strong gusts of wind during a severe thunderstorm, were knocked over a few times by the dog and were just fine. I had them fully extended and was keeping a close eye on them during the wind and they didn't move at all. My only real knock against them would be that the knobs to tighten the top half in place are not as shown in the photo. The ones I purchased have rounded knobs and while wet were a bit difficult to adjust. Other than that I thought they were great and will be heading back to buy a few more.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Poorly made. Screw knob tends to spin without turning the screw that holds the extension up before it is tight enough to hold. It happened on two of the four I bought. Upper pole corroded inside the lower pole and ended up with a black substance. This stuff got on my hands and then on the table top for my kitchen centre, permanently staining it. I know poles are hard to find, but these are definitely not very good for anything but the lightest duty tasks. I do not recommend them, even thought they are cheap.

No, I do not recommend this product.

lighter duty pole, but worked well

I purchased one of these at the Salmon Arm CT to help lift the tarp I had over the tent a little higher as the tree coverage near the tent at our camping spot was lacking to raise the tarp up. For $10 you can't go wrong with this pole. It is definitely not a heavy duty pole and shouldn't be extended to its full height for any great period of time as it feels like it will bend. It held up for the 5 days we used it holding the corner of a 16x20' tarp at about the 6.5' mark without issue. I definitely plan on grabbing 1 or 2 more of these to have around just in case. For light duty use they are perfect. I will see how they hold up long term with a few more trips to come this year.

    Yes, I recommend this product.
