Junk. It lasted two weeks then wouldn't erase. Per recommendation of customer service I replaced the batteries, but it still didn't work. Would not recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upon opening this, the first thing I noticed, was that it seemed to be lighter than the old school original that I had as a kid. It comes with a stylus that is attached, which I think is a must, if you expect to use it more than once, or don't want to have to be continuously searching for it. It also come with two "stampers" in the place where the old school knobs were located. These are not attached,and so never stayed with our etch a sketch, but were always found on the floor etc. Drawing/designing on the Etch a Sketch free style was very simple and precise, especially with the stylus. It showed up in fun rainbow color, and my kids loved to see their creations magically appear in fun multi-color. What they didn't love, was trying to get it to erase. It wasn't as simple as just giving it a few shakes. It had to be the right amount (4 I think) in a very deliberate way. I had to erase it for them every time, which then makes it frustrating for everyone! If it weren't for that issue, and the loose stampers, I would have given it 5 stars. It is fun to draw with, and if you are meticulous with your toys, so that loose pieces don't get lost, and don't mind having to turn yourself into the "eraser" every 10 seconds when they're ready for a new picture, then you will enjoy this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The reimagined classic toy seemed exciting and cleverly redesigned to appeal to a new generation. As I pulled it out of its packaging I felt how light and portable it was. The first feature was the stylus, it is attached and housed on the toy; eliminating the possibility of it being lost. The second feature was the would be knobs of the classic Etch A Sketch model are now double sided stamps that pop in and out for easy access and storage. While I can understand the appeal and initial curiosity to engage with this new product variation; I can see a child quickly losing interest after awhile . This product was put through 3 point testing; an adult who once owned the classic version, a 7 year old girl, and a 2 year old boy. However, upon closer inspection and putting it to use, I was disappointed. As for myself, since I was the first to play with it, I thought it was cute and novel how easy it seemed until I tried the classic shake to clear method we all remember. Mind you, I did read the instructions first and followed the updated shake method for this toy. Well.... it didn't work, and I shook and shook again and it still didn't clear the screen. I wondered if I did something wrong or if it was broken. I put it down after awhile, then tried again. I don't know how long it took for me to finally get the screen clear. That alone would've cost any child's patience and attention to this toy! I gave it another go and the same thing happened. This time I was just done- a few days lapsed before I handed over to my 7-year old daughter. She encountered the same issue a few times, but kept playing with it. However just as I suspected she lost interest after a few hours and that was the end of that. Now for the 2 year-old... he loved to play with it and pop the buttons out while having one of us put them back in for him. He was a bit rough with the toy and pulling it from the stylus cord. He would scribble on it after being shown. Not quite the toy for him given the age on the package. However, he did get a hold of it nonetheless. Using it is easy but it seems flimsy and easy to break. Especially for the younger kids. The summary I provided is what I would have wanted to know before getting the product. I would say this would make a good pick to take on a drive somewhere to entertain the kids short term. But not the easiest to clear the screen and that's a definite thumbs down for us.
