    It's (a lot) more expensive than other club mallets or sledge hammers, but it is worth the expense. With a wood or fiberglass handle, there's always a chance (a slim one, to be true) of the hammer head popping off while you are swinging the club. It only happened once with us, but that was enough to convince me to pay extra for the forged, all-metal Estwing club mallet. We have used it with punches and chisels, but we mainly use it as small sledge hammer. It's been used to break up patio stones, break down 2x4 framing in our garage, etc. The short handle gives you better control than with a full-size regular sledge with a yard-long handle. hammer only problem with it is that it could use a slightly longer handle.
