Good value for casual use

Great tent for its price. Would sleep 2-3 very comfortably. 5 would work without any gear. Recommended if you like camping a few times a year.

Drier than my pop-up!

We bought this tent for our emergency preparedness kit because how light it is and it's tub floor. We are a family of five and we figure in an emergency we'd be able to all fit. In a bad storm our old tent leaked and ripped so we decided to let our kids use this one till we bought a remplacement. During our last camping, the day after we set up there was a severe thunderstorn so my littlest one came inside our camper but we left the tent set up. During our trip of 9 days, it rained 7 days. Many times there were heavy rains. We were surprised at how dry everything was. It was drier than my pop up trailer!!!! The only wet spot was caused by my son's cot touch a side which any camper knows is a no-no. Set up is a breeze. My husband does it with my daughter. This is my first Escot tent and I would purchase this tent again!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great tent for the occasional camper

I bought this tent in a bind after my previous tent decided to leak like a sieve. The first time we used it was in a terrible storm off the water in Cape Breton. It kept us dry but the poles buckled backwards during the night, the side walls were stretched and the threads were coming apart where the peg loops attached to the bottom. I've used it a few times since in fair weather with no issues. Its roomy enough inside for a couple adults with gear, but that's about it. Overall the quality seems to be on par for price.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellent tent regardless of cheap price

I bought this tent for my weekend/week long trips to Algonquin. a little thin but hold up great in rough weather. Very spacious and i can almost stand up inside! also a cinch to assemble and take down/pack up! would definitely recommend to a novice or experienced camper! enjoy!

A good value for the novice camper

I didn't expect much from this tent but was pleasantly surprised. As others have commented, the door design - with having to undo the zipper from the bottom - was simply dumb and the fly does not fully cover the door. We got caught in one of the worst thunderstorms I have ever tented in and the tent held up fabulously, with the exception of the bottom part of the door - the rain seeped through the zipper and we had a small puddle at the door. But we were otherwise dry. This is not a five man tent - two adults and two kids at best. At the same time, the tent is high enough for most folks to stand up in and, in spite of the design flaw, the door itself is large enough to get a queen sized air mattress through when you are stupid (or drunk) enough to blow it up outside the tent! This is the best value tent by far, but if you're a serious camper I'd spend the extra money on a higher-end tent. If you're a once or twice a summer camper this tent is a great buy. Just bring a tarp to cover the door in the event of a good rainstorm and you'll be fine. A solid three stars.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Q: Is this a free-standing tent? Can this tent be set up inside on a basement cement floor or outside on a wooden deck? Or, does it require stakes?

2 Answers
  • A: It is free standing and does not require stakes. The fly fastens to the tent-pegs and can be adjusted if not pegged into the ground. The tent can be easily moved from one place to the next without taking it down. Obviously it will blow away if it isn't tied down, so if it's on your deck do tie it down.

Q: Does it leak when its raining? (when its raining does it seap through the bottoms?)

2 Answers
  • A: I got caught in one of the worst downpours I've ever tented in and this tent did not leak EXCEPT at the bottom of the door because of the design of the tent. The fly overhang does not extend out enough to cover the bottom part of the door of this conically-shaped tent. So in torrential rain that lasted for four hours we the zipper got soaked and that ended up leaving a very small puddle at the door. The remainder of the tent and underside did not leak. We had a tarp beneath the tent. It held up fabulously in the rain. If you buy this tent simply buy a small tarp to place over the door in the even of a bad storm (it did not leak in lighter rain - by the way) and you will remain dry.

Q: how big of an air matress can fit in this tent

2 Answers
  • A: We had a queen size air mattress in this tent with plenty of room on either sides. I don't think it would be a problem to fit a king size air mattress in this tent. There were still lots of room with a queen size air mattress in it.

Q: Bought this tent last year, used it for the first time this weekend and the centre hub broke in two after 20hrs...can you replace it? I am terribly unimpressed with this tent quality. The centre hub, which connects all of the poles, snapped in half rending the tent somewhat useless. Please email me with how this will be fixed. Regards, Christine
