Q: Can I drive my car to Canadian Tire and install this gauge on my car by the mechanic? Car: 87 olds cutlass supreme with V8 engine

    1 Answer
    • A: Hi Kyla, Thank you very much for your email and interest in Equus instrumentation. I'm from the supplier (Equus), so I cannot officially speak on the installation side of your inquiry. I recommend calling the nearest Canadian Tire location with a full service auto care center and confirm an appointment to install the tachometer on your Cutlass. The installation is rather simple, so I would expect the team there can help you out. Feel free to reply with any questions, and thanks again for your interest. Have a great week!

Q: Cylinder number Some tachs have dip switches to change for the amount of cylinders a car has. Does this one? Or does it not need it?

    1 Answer
    • A: ENGINE CYLINDER ADJUSTMENT: The tachometer is designed for use with 4-, 6-, and 8-cylinder engines only. The cylinder select switch on the rear of the tachometer must be set prior to installation. Use your finger or a small screwdriver to slide the cylinder select switch to the appropriate position; 4, 6, or 8.

Q: eltronic ignition Have replaced my points with a petronic ignition system on my 6 cylinder Corvair (1962), will this work with electronic ignition

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes. Tachometers usually pickup their signal from the coil. Upgrading to electronic ignition generally has little effect on the coil. However, we would suggest that you contact Pertronix regarding your Corvair to be sure.
