    Junk

Had 2 of these. First one broke after a couple of weeks....2nd one fell apart installing it. You can hardly tell there is a screen there when opened---potentially somebody might walk into it. NOT easy to install unless your door frame is PERFECTLY FLAT & SQUARE. It does not snap in as easy as the video makes it look. Save yourself some hassle and get another one like I did. The new one has a solid frame you assemble, THEN just 4 screws hold it securely in place PLUS there are nice dark lines alerting you to the fact there is a screen there.

No, I do not recommend this product.

The Elements Screen Door is constructed of a strong aluminium frame and durable plastic parts. This door does require a little DIY experience, however the process is made easier by watching the short installation video. If screen visibility is an issue we suggest threading a white or brightly coloured ribbon into the mesh. JRTeam

Took a while to find this in stock. I believe people are expecting hacksaws included as alot of boxes were opened and retaped. With a help from friend we hacksawed the bottom and top portions. Watching the video made installing helpfull by myself Works fantastic .. Need another for front door now :)

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 10 of 12 Questions

Q: Is there a way to secure the bottom of the screen so pets can't push through? I've noticed other manufacturers will provide clips to attach at intervals to secure the bottom of the screen to the bottom track to make it difficult for pets to push through. Is that setup available with this product?

    • A: The screen has buttons on the top and bottom that hold the screen in place that prevent it from falling out of the track. However if a pet pushes with excessive force on the screen, the buttons release to allow the screen to come out of the track to alleviate pressure and prevent damage to the screen. The customer just needs to open the screen door and the buttons will automatically be out back in place and then the screen door can be closed as per usual. This is an important feature you want because without the buttons releasing, the pet could potentially tear the screen. The buttons have some resistance but will release as designed.

Q: When it says "do it yourself install, with the modification of door frame not required", what does that mean? How is it attached to the door frame?

    1 Answer
    • A: The most common installation is the surface mount installation. This is mounted on the surface of the brick mould around the edges of your door. You would measure from the threshold to the header and the if the opening is between 79.0” to 80.5” then a standard retractable door of 81.5” would be used. An installation video on www.retractaway.com can also help to clarify any other questions.

Q: can this be installed in a motor home entry door? What is the thickness of the frame?

    1 Answer
    • A: No, this door is not for use on motor homes Most motor home doors open outward not inward. This is a space saving item as most motor homes are only 8’ wide at the most. If the door swung in, 32” of space would be lost. Also most motor home doors do not have standard home sills or even places to properly screw in hardware and most motor home owners would be very cautious about screwing anything to their motor home because one screw hole means water leakage.
