The edge cleans and sharpens skates very well. I haven't sharpened my skates yet this season as a midget hockey coach. It will be on the bench during games for a quick touch up when players need it.

Having the "Edge"

This compact, easy-to-use tool has come in handy. there aren't many options when a player loses a skate edge during a game. We used this the very first day our team got it, and will continue to use! Provides the player and the team trainer with peace-of-mind!

A: only if you take the tusk out and place it on the blade yourself.

Q: how many times can you sharpen your skates before replacing the tusks...i believe it says 30 sharpens, but is this estimate conservative?

A: Its going to be different for everyone. I use our Edge Again (manual) on the skates of our Jr B players. I'm not trying to sharpen a air of skates at a time,.... but more so just to "touch them up" or restore an edge. We started using ours when we received the product in late September and still have the same tusk in place. I estimate about 20-25 skates have been done and its going going strong. For full sharpens (2 blades at once) the 30 pairs seems reasonable based on the performance I've seen. Hope this helps.

Q: Can the model EA-4MF which has figure skates on the package, will they work on hockey skates?

A: The sharpening insert in the EDGE AGAIN™ has been designed to sharpen most hockey skates. However, the blades on goalie skates and figure skates are typically wider than standard skates. The EDGE AGAIN™ Model EA1 unit will not sharpen goalie skates or figure skates.
