Eddie Bauer Excursion High Back Car Seat

I purchased two of these seats to replace Eddie Bauer 3-in-1 seats that were involved in an accident. I was relatively happy with the 3-in-1 seats and was pressed for time, so decided to stick with the same brand. I picked up the Excursion seats because I no longer had a need for rear facing. I expected the quality to be the same but it's not at all! The latch is the old fashion type that's difficult to work, instead of the newer one click button LATCH that comes with the 3-in-1. Also, the strap to tighten the seats has frayed and become stuck on both seats (within 8 months of purchase). Now I need replacement straps to keep my youngest strapped in securely. My oldest has moved to booster mode so I don't care about that for him, but still need to get a year out of the strap for my youngest. I'm also annoyed that the height of the straps can't be easily adjusted like it can on the 3-in-1. Taking the seat out to move straps is frustrating. Terrible quality. They really skimped out on this one.

We got this seat for our 6 year old and he loves it! He sits very well in it and looks comfortable when he falls asleep.

Had no issues with this. It is quite big so kids can grow into it.

I'm going to be a voice of dissent here as I have found this car seat to be a very good fit with both of our cars (Ford Fusion and Escort). It was easy to install in both cars and felt very secure with little to no movement. Our newer vehicle has the universal latch system and my one complaint is that this car seat does not have the quick latch attachments to connect to the system (it has anchor hooks instead). Only slightly more difficult to install and uninstall with these but I was still able to switch it from one car to the other in less than 10 minutes on my first try. In the older vehicle I have to use the seat belt to secure the child seat and, as long as I put all my weight in the seat when tightening the belt, it is very secure and barely moves at all. My 2 year old is much more comfortable in this seat than she was in our other one (Evenflo Momentum 65 3-in-1). She does not travel well in general and we’ve never managed more than 45 minutes before the fussing started in the old car seat. With this one we were well over an hour and it seemed mostly boredom causing the issues rather than discomfort. My advice with any car seat is keep the receipt, take it out of the box in the store parking lot (weather permitting) and test it in your car before you even leave with it. Not all seats will fit all cars, or even kids for that matter!
