Home comfort

I have upgraded to the ecobee pro. The delivery came sooner than expected. After unboxing and reading the information provided, I also YouTube an instruction video to help ensure a proper installation. The instructions is straightforward but make sure you take a picture of the wiring on your old thermostat before removing to use as a reference. Following the on screen instructions made it very easy to follow and even corrected me after placing one of the wires in the wrong location.(my fault) So it’s been a few weeks now and all has been working as expected. Only one sensor was provided with the thermostat and I would recommend purchasing more monitors for different parts of your home such as the basement. By having multiple sensors throughout your house you can program your home to suit your comfort levels, whichever they may be.

Some use cases actually cost you money!!

Temp algorithms that pre heat/cool a room when the schedule changes can be bugged out if you also change the number of sensors used to calculate the current temperature in the house. For example, if your bedrooms are cooler than the rest of the house. At night if you decrease the set temperature and remove all sensors from the sleep setting (except those in bedroom(s)), the thermostat will attempt to heat the bedroom(s) to the current set temperature even if the bedrooms are at correct for the sleep setting. In effect the thermostat costs you money.

Upgrading my thermostat

I have had an Ecobee 3 lite for some time already. Was looking to upgrade and improve my Ecobee experience. So took advantage of their sale foe earth day and got me the thermostat with voice control. Is definitely and improve, even though I am still getting use to it. I have several Alexa hubs around the house so knowing in the command was heard from the thermostat or not is nor too easy. I have to be directly in front of the thermostat to actually see it lite up when calling Alexa. But all in all is good so far

Great for short term purchase

Purchased an ecobee unit in 2011 with wifi capabilities. It’s 2024 and it still works great. Got an email this week from ecobee saying they are no longer providing wifi service to my unit because it is too old. Offered me 30% discount on a new unit. No thanks. If you guys like spending your hard earned money on temporary hardware then ecobee is for you. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
