Great out of the box features, some tradeoffs

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Essential is easy to install and get up and running, the app walks you through nearly everything. I did find that the Automatic Staging options mask many configuration settings (like the temp threshold) that I would like to have access to, but others may not require that. I did find the Alexa interface very limited - all you can do via voice command or routine is set a temporary temperature hold

Reservation token broken out of the box brand new app don’t work and server won’t work they won’t replace just telling Me suck it up we might fix the issue.

Scaled down version of its big brother

Purchased this thermostat to replace an old analog thermostat. Was under the impression that it would work with a Transformer as the old system was only two wire. In order for ecobee to work with that thermostat you must purchase the enhanced or premium version, not this essential one, as it has only one R terminal whereas the two wire systems require 2 R terminals. They have made the thermostat face smaller and taken away the convenience functionality of having the time displayed on the standby screen. Seems like they have purposely downgraded this just to force you to purchase the higher quality and more expensive one.
