A: This filter can be used in a ceiling air return vent. We would recommend unscrewing the vent cover and placing the filter on the inside of the return vent.

Q: Will it cost my furnace to use more heat & power by using the filter? I had my furnace, ducts and register cleaned and the guy told me it takes more power/energy for my furnace to supply heat. He said to change the filter once per month.

A: Our filters are designed to last up to 3 months under normal operating conditions. The more dirt that is captured by the filter the more resistance to airflow it will create. The service technician is correct in saying that a filter changed monthly will be less costly on energy consumption.

Q: Do these filters work on ceiling vents as well as floor vents?

A: As long as the size fits, or can be trimmed to fit your vent. These filters will work in a ceiling vent.

Q: Would installing this prevent bugs from accessing through vent? I live in an apartment and I'm sure there are bugs coming through the vent in the ceiling. It looks just like a floor register except there is no way to close it. Thank you for any help you can give or even suggest an alternate solution.

A: Unfortunately, this filter is not designed to stop bugs. Installing this filter will help clean the air entering the room but bugs will still be able to navigate around the filter. If the bugs are entering through the ceiling vent, you should ask your building superintendent to inspect the duct work leading to the vent. In doing this, they might be able to find and correct the source of the problem.
