    Works Well

It is cheaply made but is simple to use and works perfectly for what I need. I configured the chime for Westminster so it plays a bit longer. I put the transmitter on top of my existing door bell - fit perfectly. No installation, it just sits there. I can hear the chime which is plugged into an outlet in my study in the basement. When I'm working on the computer I can now hear the doorbell, even with headphones on.

    Tone issues and quiet

I bought this extender because I can't hear my doorbell in my office. This extender was easy to install, but would not play any of the other tones but 'ding' until I disconnected it from the rear doorbell. It's also not as loud as I'd hoped it would be. It will do for now but I'm hoping to find something better.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Extend a chime?

Purchased extend a chime, not realizing I need a transmitter. Why sell it without a transmitter. I have a wired door bell. Instructions in store very poor. I hope they have the transmitter that goes with this chime.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Our contractor bought this extender for us. It insures we always hear the door bell even when the regular bell conks out. Have been using it for four years now.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Pretty Good

Just installed this on my doorbell because I could never here it ring when I was in the basement. The install was very simple (needed to do some trial and error since whichever previous owner installed the chime didn't label the wires) and took about 10 minutes. The receiver is about 20 feet from the receiver in a straight line through the floor and seems to work fine there are a few cons however. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's not a very loud chime so you have to place the receiver in a spot where it won't get muffled by furniture or the like but it's much better than not hearing it at all. The second issue (with mine anyways) is that it requires a solid ring of the doorbell, a quick tap of the button will cause the hard wired chime to ring but doesn't seem to have enough power to trigger the extender so the button needs to be pressed for a solid half second or so to trigger the extender, most people tend to hold the button down for a bit if nobody comes at the first ring so I don't see this being a major issue.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 4 of 4 Questions

Q: Can two extenders (on two different floors) be used with the same transmitter, or would I need two transmitters?

    1 Answer
    • A: You can use the same transmitter. The manual has steps on how to sync up both chimes.

Q: Will it work with a lighted doorbell?

    1 Answer
    • A: The extender doesn’t work directly with a push button, it’s sound activated by a chime.

Q: Carlon doorbell rings - no one there I have two Carlon doorbells (plug in type). Occasionally they ring on their own. It isn't a neighbour doorbell frequency problem. Also, the chime (tune) changes each time. Any suggestions?

    1 Answer
    • A: It sounds like the button is defective. If you are within the warranty and have your receipt, we would suggest returning it to Canadian Tire for a replacement.

Q: Unexpected chime melody and no visitors The unexpected melody (when no visitors) is not one of the 6 melodies offered by the unit. Can changing the chime privacy code wiring solve the problem? or there is other problem that the unit should be returned?

    1 Answer
    • A: I had the same problem. None of the privacy code wiring settings helped. I'm returning the unit.
