Great tool, as expected from Dewalt. TWO HANDED TOOL. Even if it weren't for all the power this tool has, it's big enough and heavy enough that a one hand "brush" is not an option. It only gets 4 stars because a grinding disk was NOT included, as I expected. (Box didn't look resealed either ...)
Otherwise, a five star tool.

Not worth the money buy a milwakee

Bought this to replace my last Dewalt 5 inch grinder and now trigger lock prevents trigger from being pressed instead of preventing release. What a stupid concept now I have to hold trigger 100% of the time. Won't be long buying a competitor product with an actual trigger lock

Q: Will the DEWALT DW4701 4-1/2-Inch Cutting Blade with 7/8-Inch Arbor fit on the DW831 5" grinder?

A: The blade itself is recommended for use with 4-4.5” models, but it still will fit on the spindle for the DW831. Grinder wheels are fairly universal in that sense. You may need to install your locking nut backward for a better grab on the blade, or use a 15/16” thin washer in between the blade and the locking nut.

Q: False Description Why is Canadian Tire advertising this model # DW831 as heavy duty, when DeWalt's own website describes it as medium?

A: I just bought this and it does NOT have the lock on feature, although it looks like Dewalt makes different versions that do. Had I realized this I definitely would not have bought it. Now I have to decide whether I'm going to have to live with it, or take a 4 hr drive to return it and buy something else. It's infuriating that Dewalt doesn't make it clear on the box whether it has this feature or not!

Q: On the older version of this (same product #) you used to be able to lock the trigger into the "ON" position. Was this feature removed? It's a pain to have to apply constant pressure to the trigger when performing long jobs.

A: The CTC Product number relates to the DW831, which in fact does have a lock switch for the trigger. Unsure if the customer was referring to the wrong product but in our system, Sku# 0547247P matches our Sku# DW831 which has a locking trigger.
