As indicated on the DAP DYNAFLEX 230 (CLEAR) product package label and supporting product literature, under label section: “FOR BEST RESULTS: SEALANT APPLIES WHITE & DRIES CLEAR IN 7-14 DAYS” and again under label section: “INSTRUCTIONS: SEALANT APPLIES WHITE & DRIES CLEAR IN 7-14 DAYS DEPENDING ON JOINT DEPTH, TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY." All of DAP's (CLEAR) acrylic-latex (water-based) sealants will function this way and are labeled accordingly with the information found above, regarding this color changing performance characteristic. Based on your commentary indicating: "took a lot of force to squeeze out of the nozzle”, it would appear to signal that the inner foil seal was not broken/punctured prior to attempting to apply the product. As indicated on the product package label guidance: "2. Cut nozzle at a 45º angle to desired bead size. 3. Puncture inner foil seal. 4. Load into caulk gun. 5. Fill gap w/sealant". Failure to puncture the inner foil seal (Step #3) will not permit the product the flow from the application tip as intended and will likely result in product bypassing the plunger. Difficult application can also result from attempt to apply aged/expired product (newly purchased product may not necessarily be of recent manufacture). Additionally, Dynaflex 230 is not designed, tested, marketed, and labeled for use in wet environment. .
