Great Spackle

I used this spackle to fill the holes in my bathroom wall after removing my towel holder. I like that it starts out pink and you know it’s dry when it turns white which only took about a couple of hours or less. I sanded it after it dried and it came out nice and smooth

Q: It says DAP Drydex Spackling can be used for interior and exterior applications. I need to confirm that it can be used to smooth out an exterior weathered window sill which I shall be painting after the application of this spackling.

A: Thank you for posting your inquiry. DAP DryDex is designed, marketed, labeled, and recommended for minor cosmetic repairs, such as: cracks, dents, dings, holes and similar cosmetic defects. Because DAP DryDex Spackling is not recommended for use in skim coating applications (large format spreading, veneering, resurfacing). As indicating on the product package label and supporting product literature: "DO NOT USE AS A SKIM COAT." Q: How much time this product is dry for painting?

A: Thank you for posting your inquiry on DryDex Spackling. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "One application is usually sufficient for small repairs. For repairs deeper than 1/8”, apply two or more layers allowing spackling to dry between applications. Spackling will change color to white when surface can accept a second application or is ready to be painted or sanded in 1 to 5 hours." (longer in cool or humid conditions).
