Not great air flow and don’t last long, while squeezing in between

For some reason, I keep buying these hoping they will perform better and longer. While they are working, they may wake you up during the night with a very loud squeal! But the biggest thing is they don’t last long. They aren’t getting any better. Need to find another solution to increase air flow from registers.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for your feedback and for being a repeat customer. We're sorry to hear that your experience hasn't met your expectations.

The CM-300 is designed to help improve airflow to problem rooms, but it is not intended to increase the overall capacity of an HVAC system. We also understand how frustrating it can be to experience excessive noise or have a product fail prematurely.

A loud squeal is not normal operation, and we'd appreciate the opportunity to learn more about your installation, including the register size, duct configuration, and how long the units were in service. This information can help us determine whether there may be an installation issue, a compatibility concern, or a product defect.

Please contact our customer service team at 888-293-5662 or info@cyclonerangehoods.com. We value your feedback and would welcome the chance to assist and improve your experience with our products. CycloneRangeHoods

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that the booster fan did not meet your expectations.

The CM-300 is designed to improve airflow distribution to rooms that receive insufficient heating or cooling, but it cannot increase the overall output of your HVAC system. In some applications, such as systems with very low static pressure, restricted ductwork, or incompatible vent configurations, performance may not be as expected.

We'd appreciate the opportunity to learn more about your setup and help determine whether the unit is installed correctly or if another solution may be better suited to your needs. Please contact our customer service team at 888-293-5662 or info@cyclonerangehoods.com, and we'll be happy to assist.

Your feedback is valuable and helps us continue improving our products and customer experience. CycloneRangeHoods

Improved Air Flow

Bought two of these for vents in a second story that weren't getting enough air flow. I have them running constantly along with the furnace fan on circulate. They definitely help and are an inexpensive way to assist with air flow. It is important to note that these were installed along with an extensive dialing in of all the vents in the house and some other minor work. These are not a magic fix but they can certainly help!

Works well

Works well. Our upstairs bedroom is now comfortable to walk in. Used to be chilly. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is that it is a little loud. Not enough to keep you from sleeping, or wake you up.

Questions

Q: How long are these units expected to operate before failing? With maintenance, how long are they expected to operate?

3 Answers
  • A: I have not had any issues with mine. I plug it in when my AC is on and I can’t get the upstairs bedroom cool enough. It’s been working great for about 3 years now. No maintenance required.

Q: What happens when the furnace stops Once the furnace stops, does this fan keep running? If so, then it would just be pulling in cold air (in the winter). Or is it designed to shutoff once the furnace stops?

3 Answers
  • A: The fan only runs if the air in the duct is colder than the air in the room (on the cool setting) or warmer than the air in the room (the heat setting). You get to choose how much temperature difference there needs to be between the air in the duct and the air in the room before the fan comes on - the fan has a thermostat. This feature works really well and means the fan only runs when you would want it to.

Q: Can this be used in a bedroom to shut the register when the room reaches a maximum temperature you set?

2 Answers
  • A: No, the unit simply detects treated air (hot or cold, depending on the season) and clicks the fan on to help boost idle air from the ducts into the room. It cannot shut the register but it will clock off when the desired temperature is reached.

Q: We have an older home, and all our vents are very close to the walls and baseboards The surrounding trim on your unit seem to be quite wide... Any suggestions?

  • A: I would suggest you purchase the booster fan and determine if it fits into your vents and the space allowed satisfactorily. If it doesn't, then you can easily return the item to Canadian Tire within their "return policy" time frame.

Q: if I keep the temperature difference low (for A/C on cold settings), it keeps running all the time. Will it burn out and/or cause fire?

2 Answers
  • A: It's made for continuous use and would only cause a fire if there is a short causing sparks and a fire. But there is always a possiblity of things going wrong. The only complaint I have is that it started making a clacking noise after a while possibly from a component interfering with another piece.

Q: We have a gas fireplace stove and the internal fan is defective and too costly to replace/repair. Can I use this fan to push the hot air surrounding the stove/fireplace when it fires up out to the rest of the room (14 x 20) feet) and shut off after?

2 Answers
  • A: Not sure where you are placing this fan but it's designed to fit on a heat register. After a few months of use my fan started to rattle and make a noise. If you are planning to just blow hot air around there stove then it is better to use a standard fan that stands on the floor.

Q: Is the fan reversible to pull main floor warm air down into an unheated crawl space?

2 Answers
  • A: No. It will only draw air in one direction.  Could you mount it upside down in the crawl space?
