trailer brake worked great for my trip

I bought this Brake controller for my new f150 that had a trailer package with no brake system hooked up to it that I did not know about. It worked great after a few hickups trying to get the app to work. I am so glad we purchased this with no need for tools or a garage.

We own two trailers with Electric brakes. Have a 1/2 that tows and has built in Trailer Brake Controller. We need to go pick up an antique car from Montana so I hooked our car hauler to the motor home. But our Motor Home has a 7-way plug but no trailer brake controller. Now I have to buy Brake Controller and run wire to back and rewire plug. So I started searching and found the CURT Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller. Plugged into Motor home 7-way, Blue toothed to App on phone, set up MH and Carhauler to 35% Braking on App and then plugged in trailer. Worked like a charm. If it loses blue tooth it just takes last setting. Comes with strap to hold it on. The MH Brake light activate the trailer brakes. Do not travel with Emergency Flashers on. The Curt is transferable to different trailers and tow vehicles. Up to 6 I think. Lots of good videos to watch to help with set up and operation. Still waiting for call to start road trip but I can not see a reason that this would not work.

A Great Solution When You Don’t Want to Hardwire A Controller Into Vehicle.

This wireless brake controller so far is a perfect solution for my SUV. Although expensive upfront, it was less expensive than having a brake controller wired into my vehicle and it also got me around trailer shops that weren’t comfortable (and wouldn’t) working on my make and model. Bluetooth connection may not be as reliable as hardwire but remains to be seen.

Didn't work ahead of 7-way extension cable

We needed this brake controller to work in series ahead of a 7-way extension cable between our tow vehicle cable and an extension cable to the trailer (Curt Echo was securely strapped onto tow vehicle inside the rear of the vehicle). Unfortunately the brake controller would only connect when it was in series behind the extension cable, but this would not work because the controller would be swinging in the air. It may work fine in other settings, but unfortunately not for our situation.

Q: My car only a 4 pin connector on it so I bought a 7 pins adaptor to be able to attach it to this wireless controller. Would it work even though there is no electric brake wire going to the 7 pins adaptor?

  • A: Yes as this unit doesn’t require an electric brake wire, it uses an internal sensor to determine braking.

Q: will this work with a 2012 jeep grand cherokee?

  • A: If your 2012 jeep Grand Cherokee is already equipped quit a 7 pin trailer connector, then yes. This brake controller plugs into any 7 pin trailer connector. If your jeep doesn't have a 7 pin connector installed, there are kits that you can buy out there to add this connector to your vehicle. Etrailer.com is a good place to look to vet something compatible with your vehicle.

  • A: Yes. It is blue tooth connected to your phone. Once you have set the braking force to your requirements you can turn your phone off and it continues to work on your saved setting. Cell coverage is not required for this controller to work.
