Subpar materials

Almost all the knife handles have split, cracked or broken. I splurged on these expecting to get increased value., but my much older cheaper knives have outlasted these by far (including my “Woodwards” knife). Very disappointed.

No, I do not recommend this product.

  • A: No. It comes with a steel rod for honing. Honing is fine for extending the time between sharpenings, but it does not actually sharpen the knife.

Q: Why are they called Japanese steel knife but made in China? The Chinese import Japanese steel?

  • A: The steel is a grade of steel made in Japan. That has nothing to do with where the knives are stamped, forged, or otherwise manufactured.

Q: Kind of Steak Knives? Are the steak knives serrated or straight-edge?

2 Answers
  • A: The other answer is incorrect. The steak knives are in fact serrated; I'd guess about 12 TPI. Back is flat so the teeth could be sharpened with flat grinding
