    Hunk of junk

Purchased this 2 years ago. Based on name brand thought we were getting a very good product. Within under 6 months everything started rusting and rotting. Called cuisinart for warranty support, was told didn’t I know that stainless steel rusts. I started cancer treatment so had to stop bbq’ing anyway. Replaced parts and it all rusted again! What a waste. Doesn’t even cook well. Previously we had top line bbq from BK but were tiered of seasoning cast iron grills, thought stainless would be better plus thought nice side searing grill. Not better. No comparison cuisinart customer service and warranty sucks. Even though our old bbq from BK is out of warranty they still help us! Cuisinart told was condescending and didn’t care that their product is garbage.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Nice looking and well-featured but poorly designed

I bought this BBQ on sale three years ago and despite its good looks and many features, it’s been a total disappointment. After only two seasons, the ceramic bricks had to be replaced and the trays that retain them rotted though. This cost hundreds of dollars to replace. As well, the way this is designed, grease and debris collects on the ceramic surface and causes constant flare-ups. Ultimately, even at low heat, our food was always getting incinerated. Otherwise, cooking temperatures are uneven. I’m afraid you get what you pay for. I had to throw out this BBQ after just three seasons and have replaced it with a Weber. Not the same league. It’s good to try to save but this was a fools ransom. Please learn from my mistake.

    no more than average

Have this BBQ for 11 mth. did not use it in the winter just spring to fall and another spring. My unit does heat up quite fast but It is true that the ceramic plates areas have a very different heat level than the rest of the grill but I move the meat around, The sear could be better and designed to be more easily cleaned. If it is windy yes its true the flame may go out(sear). Biggest issue for me was the lid top sides (right & left) had 2-3 spot welds go out so it would cave in 1/4 inch. Cuisinart sent me a new lid but I had to pay shipping and GST. Also this unit is so hard to keep the outside clean you kind of have to forget about it otherwise you'll be cleaning it every time you use it.

Review: After 2 Years Of All Season Use.

I love this BBQ, I live on the out skirts of the city bordering the prairie and the very strong winds have not affected the grilling (well sealed unit). No rust, no rot, no broken parts. Really a joy to use this BBQ 3 days a week!

Not impressed after 2 summers of use.

2 years ago I purchased the Ceramic version, spending the extra money on what I thought would be a good investment. At first, it fired up easily, heated fast and gave nice even cooking. Without the char, my wife was willing to eat meats grilled on it as well! Within a short while, the problems started. First, doors became hard to open like the frame was twisting but it's on a flat concrete pad. Then after heating to clean the ceramics as directed, the housing began to bow out from over-temperature. As a millwright, I know this could have been cured by welding a small strip of angle inside, but it's new so should not need aftermarket modifications to not fail. Then the ceramic holders began losing the little pins that the cotter pin holds the frame together with. The burner itself lost one of the 2 gas spreader tabs between burners but I was able to just sit it back into position. Another damaged part that should not be. The wiring for the electric start has now begun rotting and I lost the ignition wiring into the main box lower burners already. There is more than one break in the wiring, as I could not wire the corroded right off wire to another pin to make it work. I am also unimpressed with the searing plate. Temps come up slow, anything more than a light breeze and it blows out and it never has done a good job. I will be buying a replacement after 2 summers and it will not be another Cuisinart.

Q: Hello, Could you please let me know if the BBQ can be used with coals to distribute the heat better or should it be used without coals? Thanks

    1 Answer
    • A: Thank you for your question. The Cuisinart 850 is a gas bbq and does not require charcoal/ briquettes or lava rock for heat distrubution. This bbq uses a heat tent system that is included. Hope this helps.

Q: I purchases BBQ two years ago and like it. There seems to be lots of life left in it. We recently moved to a new house and already has a natural gas connection. Is it possible to use a conversation kit to change it from propane to natural gas.

    1 Answer
    • A: Thank you for your question. No, this model does not have a natural gas conversion kit. We do not recommend converting any BBQ from propane to natural gas without the convertible badge on the control panel due to safety concerns.

Q: we bought the bbq but cant get the heat over 250. Driving my husband crazy. Chicken wings took two hours to cook

    1 Answer
    • A: Thank you for your question. We can correct this issue quite quickly by performing a regulator Flow Limiting Feature reset. If one or more control knobs were left open when your propane tank was opened, your regulators safety feature would have been activated. This safety feature will limit the flow of gas, essentially inhibiting your ability to get the BBQ over 300F. To reset the Flow Limiting Feature, follow the steps on Page 5 of your BBQs Safety and Care Manual. For your convenience here is a link. http://www.cuisinartbbqs.com/en/manuals/safety_care_manual_E.pdf To avoid this in the future, always follow proper lighting procedure. All knobs must be closed before opening your propane tank. Additionally, perform a leak test on all your regulator hose connections to make sure that your connections are all positive. Hope this helps.
