Q: My rain guage has two inches of actual water inside the barrel but the amount indicator says .5 inches in large black numbers. How does this work?

A: I'm not sure but it sounds like your float inside the barrel might be defective or have a hole in it so its not floating to the top of the actual water inside the barrel.
