Great for Jobs Around the House

I wanted a headlamp with various light levels for projects around the house, including reading in low light situations. This headlamp does the job superbly. It doesn't have fancy colored lights for exploring caves or running through the forest, but it does have nice, clean white light that is perfect for home projects. The only complaint is the screw cap for the battery compartment. It is not attached to the body and easily gets dropped when unscrewing the compartment to change batteries. The instructions say to attach it to the headband, but that doesn't work very well. However, overall, it's a typically well-made Coleman product and much better quality than the cheaper junk you can buy.

Climbed big mountains round the world wearing this headlamp. Nothing fancy and it works. More than enough powerful and lasts long enough to get me down safely.

Q: How do i get the 3x AAA batteries in? I get the key part - and can open the side - but how / where do the batteries go?

A: A battery housing comes out from inside the unit on the opposite side of the on/off switch for you to place your AAA batteries. Place your batteries into the housing and the entire piece slides back into the unit easily. Don't forget to line up the metal nubs on the housing so it connects the circuits.
