coleman 5hp outboard engine

I am thrilled with this little engine. Starts easy, and runs super quiet. I have a new 6hp yamaha as well, to me there isn't enough of a difference to justify the big price distance...very happy !

update 5 hp outboard

okay i got new starter pawls from a Yamaha dealer..many parts for this motor can use yahama parts..parsuns and few other brands.my fuel pump suddenly stopped working i dismantled it many times finally got it working again,ordered new one from parsuns in china..the bolts holding the carb come loose and leaks gas,so keep thightning them regularly.i find when warm and tilting it up to avoid weeds it gets flooded easy.

Great motor when on sale

I bought the 5hp in May 2018 and I'm very happy with it so far. I've put 20+ hours on it and there's no major issues. Someone say it is hard to start when warm or it would take 10 pulls to start when cold, I'd say it is true, but very easy to work around, I just give it a full throttle instead of the recommended Start Throttle position, and it would always start in 2-3 pulls. Another minor issue is that the shaft length is 17", it does not fit my inflatable boat very well where a 15" short shaft motor is preferred. But as a 5hp motor at the clearance price, I would recommend.

so far i havent got it in the lake,,so far the carb needed tightening as it was leaking fuel everywhere,,then the pawls broke loose, then cant find parts.
No, I do not recommend this product.

J,ai acheté ce moteur au mois de juin et depuis il cesse de m'épater toujours partie mais c'est mieux d'avoir une tank a gaz
parce que 1.5 litre tu vas pas loin,par temps venteux.sur la mere
pour la garantie vous demandez au canadienne tire qui, il recommande pour répare ce moteur. nous sommes 3 au camping qui ont ce moteur et il le recommande eux aussi a leur ami

A: This outboard is made by Parsun, which sells them under diff names in diff markets.

Q: How long (approximately) does a tank of gas last at full throttle for the 5HP model?

A: Not a very helpful answer from Shakespeare. Full throttle is full throttle, regardless of weight of boat, etc. Other outboards list an approximate full throttle run-time, especially the ones with integral fuel tank (which is very small). I'm guessing it is around 30 minutes.... Anyone able to confirm or correct this?

A: The motor is made in Suzhou, China near Shanghai by Parsun Power Machine Company. They have been building outboard motors and have sold them all over the world for many years. Coleman Powersports / Coleman Outboards is the North American distributor for these outboard motors and provides all the support and service and parts from our facility in the Phoenix, AZ area.
