CLR Dual Purpose Septic System Treatment & Drain Cleaner is an innovative formula does not contain detergents, preservatives and inert carriers that the bacteria attach to in use. With 7 treatments for systems up to 2000 gallons, it works instantly, can be used any time of day and its patented stabilization process allows for live, active bacteria to be deposited into the septic system. I use this in my septic system every 3 months. When the pump truck comes they comment on how little sludge is left behind after pumping. I have tried other brands but this is by far the best!

Highly recommend for your septic tank

I love this for my septic tank. Have been using it for over 10 years. Always get great feed back when we get the septic pumped. The right consistency for pumping. So easy to use. I mark the side into thirds with a marker and write the month so I remember to pour each month. Highly recommend.

Q: CLR SEPTIC It is stated on the bottle that it uses only environmentally friendly ingredients, but no ingredients are listed. Do they not have to list the ingredients (in case someone accidentally swallows some)?

A: CLR SEPTIC SYSTEM & DRAIN CARE is a bacterial inoculant. The product formulation consists of naturally occurring microorganisms. The product contains no hazardous substances. Not all ingredients are required to be listed on the package. Emergency First Aid Procedures are listed on the bottle. Read instructions on package for proper use of product and safety recommendations. Q: How does it work in a Septic System? Has anyone tried this product for their septic system? How has it worked for you?

A: Can't say it made any difference. Proper venting and watching what you put into the system is key. Check your vent stack(s) and make sure they are not plugged (birds nest, squirrel nest, debris, etc). You should be able, on a cold day, to see fumes on occasion.. And smell it. That's your tank in action. Pungent rotten egg smell. There are products that stimulate breakdown in the tank but really, just good care is all you need. Reduce oils and greases down the drain (one of your main culprits) and the tank will take care of the rest. And no harsh chemicals where possible. Bleach alternatives. Etc.
