    Shorter length than conventional

I bought 2 of these 50 inch heaters to replace the standard 20 year old baseboard heaters to get a more modern look. I like the shorter length. Pros: Made in Canada (though workmanship and paint would suggest otherwise). Shorter length than standard baseboard heaters. Rounded corners. Refreshing new look. Cons: Paint and workmanship. Also, I had to return one because it was scratched. Poor design does not allow heater to be installed flush to wall where 220 wire runs up vertically from floor to entrance hole of heater. They should allow for a small channel to snug the wire into. This is a top heater, as described, so wall gets quite hot. Some special spacers are included to set the heater approx 3/4 inch from wall to lower temp of wall. Small objects may fall into top opening.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 4 of 4 Questions

Q: To install these heaters, can I do it myself, or would I need to hire an HVAC specialist to do the wiring? Can they be installed on a different wall than existing baseboard heaters? I'm tired of paying for heat to flowcup the wall & out the window.

    1 Answer
    • A: Baseboard heaters can be a DIY project for some, most ideally would hire a professional to install them ensuring code and any other requirements are followed. The location of baseboards can be moved if desired and if the space permits it. You mention heat escaping out the window, the placement of the baseboard under the window was actually done with intention and prevents cool air from circulating in the room. The baseboard is essentially counteracting this effect. In homes with central furnaces, the registers are also placed in front of windows.

Q: Can it connect to a regular baseboard heater thermostat? I want to replace my old style baseboard heaters with more efficient ones.

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes, our baseboards will work with a regular thermostat if the you already have a thermostat and only wants to replace the baseboard. Our boards are faster at heating a room than traditional baseboards thus improving heating efficiency. If you're are looking for even better savings and you have an old bi-metal thermostat, we recommend replacing it with an electronic thermostat.
