Worked great, I've been using a hand held 3 stage manual sharpener and the electric is 10 times better. Less than 5 passes and razor sharp. Worth the extra cost.

Good sharpener

This is the 2nd one I bought for my father-in-laws birthday. It works great until the first sharpening stone stopped working. The other 2 parts still work. My 1st one was bought in Oct 2023 and stopped working in Aug. So, it didn't even get to one year.
Otherwise it works fabulous.
I was able to use Canadian Tire money and I caught it on sale.

Q: How wide a knife will the slots take, some hunting knives are quite heavy duty.

A: Approx thickness of .130” at the top of the knife guide and .070” at bottom of guide (thickness of blade where sharpening occurs). Sporting knives vary by style. It is all about the lower section of the blade. Our specialist have informed us that 43-0008 ( 200-3 ) is specifically intended for culinary knives, so the knife guides are narrow to hold these types of knives (too much space allows for deviation of angle applied to a thin blade). Some fishing knives may be used on the 200-3 as they tend to be thinner, but typical hunting knives are too thick to be used on this sharpener.

A: Used in a household setting, the abrasives will last for many, many years without need for repair or replacement. If the abrasives need replacement, you may send the sharpener back to the manufacturer and, for a nominal fee, the manufacturer will replace the abrasives, clean and lubricate the sharpener and ship it back. The abrasives, however, should last a very long time with normal household use. For more information, please call 1-800-342-3255.

Q: What degrees does this sharpen at? I've been told by a chef that different knives need to be sharpened at a different degrees/angles so knowing this is important.

A: This sharpener sharpens at 20 degrees. This is the norm for European and North American knives. Japanese knives are 15 degrees.
