I was so excited to bring this home so I could mulch my large home garden pathways maximize our forest. We quickly removed the safety guards while they are very handy and maybe even necessary it did go faster with them off. If you use too thin of a branch it will wrap around and clogged rather easily or it will leave them almost whole. Its getting the job done but its much slower process then wed hoped for and not as great of an end product. Certain types of trees and different age of trees are better then others too it's taking a bit to find the grove Also wear ear protector

Thought it was hydro locked

Right out of box it's defective, don't have many pull start things but 2 people holding machine and 1 trying to start tells u something isn't right. Went to try my pressure washer and almost tore the pull handle off

No, I do not recommend this product.

  • A: Hello, the shredder hopper on this unit is designed to process leaves, brush, and shrubbery up to ½ inch (1.3 cm) in diameter. Corn stalks can be shredded, provided the material falls within this size specification. Stalks that are thicker, particularly near the base, or those that are green and fibrous may require cutting into smaller sections prior to feeding to prevent clogging or overloading the machine. For the best performance, allow the stalks to dry completely, trim the thicker pieces to within the 1/2 in shredder rating, and feed the material gradually to avoid hopper congestion. Q: What are the specs for replacement chipper blades?

  • A: If not getting OEM blades I'd go to their website. Or ask them. They (Champion) are fast at replying to email support. I had a welded bolt break on the hopper in the first 2 years and they had me a whole new hopper that arrived in the mail in 10 days. (Very fast for the remote North)
