Une nécessité pour vérifier des petites batteries

Bien contente d’avoir acheté ce vérificateur de batteries. On en avait un très semblable depuis des années qui avait besoin d’être changé. Il sera bon pour des années je n’en doute pas! Merci Canadian Tire !

This little battery tester punches above its weight! We had to get two of them for the family as someone always has one of them at work or on a job.

Q: The instruction manual doesn't actually indicate HOW to use the product, just WHAT it can test. I've generally figured it out, but what is that big grey button on the left for?? It would be really helpful if the instructions explained 'how.'

  • A: It’s frustrating not to have directions, for sure! The grey tab on the side activates the tester for a button battery (2025, 2032) that slides in on the side. If the needle goes to the left, the battery is upside down. (It took me a while to figure this out!)

Q: Can you check NiHm rechargeable batteries? I see in the picture it checks "regular; button and NIcad" batteries. Does it check the common NiMh rechargeables?

  • A: NiMh and NiCad batteries have virtually the same voltage so any NiCad tester should also handle NiMh.

Q: Does the AA category on this recharger actually work? I've tested many, many AAs and the meter doesn't move. Then I noticed on the AA battery that they are 1.5V so I moved the category to 1.5V and then I get a reading???

  • A: It works for me. As long as I remember to touch the red to positive. :) All types I've tried work very well, even the small watch batteries. I use it all the time, glad I got it. Yours could be faulty?

Q: Does the "Certified Battery Tester" work on 9 Volt batteries? It works on AA, AAA, C and D batteries but it doesn't register a new 9 volt battery. I tried with the two silver bumps on the face and with the wires.

  • A: It worked fine for me. Double check that you have matched up the correct polarity when testing 9 volt batteries

Q: For what purpose is the slot under the grey button on the right side of the tester? (I have no motor vehicle.)

2 Answers
  • A: This is where you can place small watch batteries and lithium button cells to test. Insert the battery with the plus side up in the slot and select the 1.5V on the range selector for watch batteries or the 3V li setting for lithium batteries then press down on the grey button.

Q: Can this be used to test a 12-volt car battery?

  • A: Better to use a voltmeter for car batteries. Also even a voltmeter won't show you if the battery can hold it's charge or your charging system is working effectively. Best to take car batterins into Canadian Tire Auto Service area for a free battery test. There are too many reprocussions if your car battery fails to rely on a hand held battery checker.

Q: battery Does this item need a battery to work? Some need a 9v battaery.

2 Answers
  • A: Battery testers with an analog meter don't need a battery for they just measure the voltage of the battery being tested. Voltmeters, which often look similar to a batttery tester and ofter have a battery tester built into them, do need a battery for you need the battery to check resistance (ohms). I would expect a digital battery tester to also have a battery inside to make the digital screen work.

Q: can it test 12v car battery?

1 Answer
  • A: It can measure the battery's voltage but it cannot test the battery's health. Consider a battery tester such as product 011-3003 or 011-3020.
