Q: Is this ok to use for extracting brake fluid from reservoir?

3 Answers
  • A: This Siphon Hand Pump is best suited for transferring bulk fluids between containers. If you are working with a brake fluid reservoir, we would prefer to recommend a fluid syringe such as our MotoMaster Auto Fluids Syringe, available as Product #028-3046 and available at your local Canadian Tire. It will offer more control and has appropriate seals to withstand automotive fluids.

Q: Is the hand pump used to start the process and then gravity takes over, or must the hand pump be continuously used?

  • A: couple pumps start it. then gravity takes over, what ever your sucking from needs to be higher than what your pumping into.

Q: Used this previously to transfer sodium hypochlorite 12% (chlorine), and it works fine a year later. Want to get more but saw that the description says 'for non-corrosive liquids'; chlorine is corrosive. Is chlorine transfer not recommended with this item

2 Answers
  • A: Chlorine is mostly corrosive to human tissue, not particularly to metal or plastic, for instance. I use mine for gasoline which is not great for soft tissue contact but fine for the siphon. Last one lasted me about 40 years, so I would not be concerned about its longevity with chlorine.
