Questions

1 - 5 of 5 Questions

Q: Is this product safe for use to clean aluminum bike rims?

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. This product is safe to use on aluminum bike rims. You just want to limit or avoid over-spray on the rubber tires. Once you are finished, ensure you clean off any brake cleaner off the tires.

Q: Can I apply this to my rusty center hub?

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for the inquiry. While there should be no issue applying this to a rusty center hub, Brake Cleaner is a degreasing product designed to remove grease, grime, and brake dust. It is not designed to remove rust or be any form of rust inhibitor.

Q: The middle part of my wheel is exposed (due to steel rim) and rusted.. Can I use this product for that? And while my steel rims are on?

1 Answer
  • A: The Certified Non-Chlorinated Brake Cleaner is designed as a heavy duty cleaner / degreaser formulated to remove dirt, brake dust, grease. oil and grime from brake drums and parts. It will not help remove rust. As a result, there may not be a reason to use this product on your centre hubs in this case.

Q: Does this brake cleaner damage rubber and paint for me to spray on the rotor right on my car & bike? Can I spray this onto my brake caliper while it is still on my car & bike? Will it damage the rubber and paint surfaces?

1 Answer
  • A: Brake cleaner is formulated to clean heavy grease and grime from bare metal parts. Occasional or accidental exposure to paint and rubber should not damage that surface, especially if immediately wiped off. It is not recommended to use it on the regular basis or as a substitute cleaner for painted surfaces or tires.
