The bike is simply an entry level item with no real bells and whistles. The shifting system is a little sloppy. As I was going up a steep hill at full tilt, i found the bike kept jumping gears causing the pedal to spin erratically. I almost fell off as a result. The seat, is soo hard. Plan on getting another one if you buy this bike.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: When I start riding this bike, what number gear should by right hand gear shifter be at?
Also, after I start moving, when do I change gears, and what gear do I change to?
Thanks

A: Only you can decide what gear to be in, it should be any gear that you feel comfortable in for what you are doing. The first time you ride any bike you should just go through all the gears and see what they feel like so you know what gear to go to in what situations (heavy winds, hills, etc).
After you start moving you can change gears as long as you are pedaling forwards, so do not back pedal when changing gears and do not change gears when you are not pedaling even if you are moving. Also do not change gears when you are applying a lot of pressure to the pedal (standing and pedaling for example).

Q: cassette removal tool
what tool do I need to remove the cassette? can I buy this at CT, and if I want to replace the cassette can I buy that at CT too?
1 Answer
A: To remove the cassette you would need a freewheel remover (non Shimano). You cannot purchase this at Canadian Tire however it can be purchased at Damco. If you want to replace the cassette you can take the bicycle back to Canadian Tire where they have the correct freewheel remover and the store can order you a new freewheel from the manufacturer.
