    lightweight

lightweight as compared to the other 16" bikes that are half it's cost - this is the advantage of this model - my 6 year old can pick up the bike and carry it in and out of the house. Pedal construction isnt the greatest - peices of them are already falling off. Handbrakes work well - he got used to those within minutes.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Broke after gentle use in 2 months

I bought this bike for my son who is 5 on May 7th 2019. He rides it about 2.5 to 3 hours on average per week. After a week of riding I started noticing occasional thud sound coming from crank bearing assembly. Did not pay attention. Some days the noise would not come at all so was ok. Suddenly today (July 15) the crank assembly got totally loose and couple of bearing balls fell off. Clearly manufacturing defect of a component. Should be under warranty. I go to Canadian tire and I hear the response - “our technician will check and give a call whether its under warranty or not” — I talked to the manager and she said we will look and let you know what can be done. Waiting now... If they say this is not covered under warranty Im definitely planning to file consumer complaint against both Canadian tire as well as CCM for selling poor quality products to consumers claiming one year warranty and not following up on warranties.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Update to my original review

It turns out that the hand brake spacing is adjustable. You will have to adjust the brake calipers too. Problem solved. I still wish this bike had pedal backward braking based on the age of the target child for this bike. Great bike for a great price. I am very pleased.

    Yes, I recommend this product.
