    not so CAT friendly..

i wouldnt buy ...my husband and i used this and the instructions did not say that the cell inside the charger needs filling before use... so hence it cratered after about 2 uses, so unless the instructions come out with more informed details - you'll fail it like we did... Glad the Canadian Tire in Leduc is so awesome - they refunded with zero hassle. Too bad the CAT chargers/boosters weren't as amazing as their C-15 engines..

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have had the MotoMaster Eliminator 1400 Booster Pack and it would not boost a v8 that had no battery. So I bought this one knowing the problems with the switch , however the switch is a poor set up the problem I had was after 3 weeks and about 15 uses boosting 4cyl-8cyl gas I plugged it in to charge the unit and you could here the internal charger kicking in and out and making the lights go on and off. The good thing is the warranty had no problem getting a new replacement.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: I just bought this unit today, and there is no manual. Is there an online copy to download?

    • A: zipluke1 almost has it except for the fact that, for safety, you should make your clamp connections (+ first, - second) BEFORE turning the boosting switch to the ON position. Once the vehicle is started, turn the switch to OFF then remove the clamps from the battery. Other important instructions to be aware off: - Charge the booster pack after every use and at least every 3 months (even if you didn't use it). If you don't, the internal lead-acid battery will sulphate and eventually go bad. - If you'd like, you can keep the booster pack connected on charge indefinitely. The AC charger will automatically switch to maintenance mode when the battery is fully charged. It will not overcharge.

Q: Can this unit be stored flat under a car seat or must it always remain standing?

    2 Answers
    • A: Yes the booster pack can be stored on flat. The internal battery is an SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) battery. It is sealed and spill proof.

Q: How to use this booster to charge the battery? My battery is low and I want to charge it. I read the manual but it doesn't mention how.

    • A: Dear ept120, The CAT booster pack is not a battery charger. It is designed to jump start your vehicle battery.

Q: What charging options are available for this product? Can I charge it with a solar panel or car 12V outlet?

    • A: FYI - For solar charging, I'd suggest a 12v charge controller be added in-line to protect from overcharging. Not only that, most charge controllers allow for power to be output and monitored at the same time, allowing you to trickle charge into the battery while drawing down power in a controlled fashion (output is stopped when battery reaches too low a voltage. I use this guy (search for HQRP Solar 10A Charge Power Controller on Amazon, eBay, etc.) hooked up directly to my car battery, with a 14.5w panel connected, and wire in a 12v DC accessory outlet to the output. I intend to pick up this battery pack, and will update this thread with info on how it works in this setup.

Q: How long can I run the Mobicool Power Cooler, 37-qt fridge for off this device?

Q: how long can i run for with this product I have an electrical device that runs in 24v DC power and plugs into 110v receptacles. it uses I believe 3.75amps. How long would this power pack keep that running?

    • A: Probably not long. A handful of hours at most.

Q: Could the battery handle 10 amp discharge for one minute intervals; can the 12 Volt fuse be increased to say, 15 amps? I want to run a transmitter drawing 10.5 amps on transmission. Transmissions would be about 30 seconds over 1.5 minutes, extended over 15 min duration.

    • A: If it can start a car, it can take pulses of ten amps.

Q: I have another question: Can I use this device for a power drill or a reciprocating saw?

    2 Answers
    • A: It has no inverter -- the AC socket is for charging the battery, not running anything else. It has the oomph to start up a drill or saw maybe, but maybe not to keep them running very long.

Q: After unpacking yesterday, I plugged it. All 3 lights came on. Even after 24 hours of charge, 3 lights still on. Any suggestions? The 3 battery status lines continue to be on even after 24 hour of charging. I bought this unit on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014. Is there something wrong with this unit?
