My girlfriend bought me this for Christmas and it is the first Les Stroud I own. Texas flashlight power sucks, the mirror came unglued but I had to re glue it back but that is not a problem. Overall the bladder is very sharp right out of the package, The Firestarter is small but it does work for the size, The handle end can be used as a hammer because it is made out of metal, the seratted is not to long but you don't need it to be to cut rope..

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Poor quality...

Not the greatest knife. Took it out on a hiking/comping trip and ended up chipping small pieces of the metal off the blade on hard wood. Not much of a survival knife it can't handle wood. A bit gimmicky to. Lots of gadgets, but what you really need is a decent knife. I would recommend looking somewhere else.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: How does it compare to Bear Grylls Ultimate Knife? I heard BG has better sheath, striker and heavier blade, but doesn't hold edge as well and serrations not as tough and too long compared to LS knife. Any comments on these two similar knives?

    • A: The features (weight / blade length etc..) an individual is looking for in a knife, is of a personal preference. What do they want it to do? and how does it feel in their hand? The Les Stroud Mountain knife is a premium product with patented blade technology called “Carbonitride Titanium”. This make is 10x harder than stainless steel, corrosion resistant and provides a non- stick finish. The knife also has several features that differentiate it from the competition – Para cord, Led flashlight, mirror and storage compartment. As well, it also has a fire starter, premium sheath, built in sharpener, whistle & knurled steel pommel.
