I feel like this optic punches way above its price point. The only issue I have with it is the parallax adjustment is EXTREMELY stiff. The same goes with the 3.3 - 18x. Crystal clear glass, reticle tracks true and overall a great scope for the price point. Zero stop is very easy to setup and the scope works great on either a bolt action or AR platform. It is a bit on the heavier side though if you're looking to use it as a hunting scope.

Best Scope for the Money, Period

There's certain things where I am very brand loyal, and others where I am trying to find the best product for my needs and am willing to experiment. I'm so glad I did! The Burris XTR III lineup punches way above its weight class. It has edge-to-edge lens clarity, a 34mm tube, an illuminated reticle that you can toggle between red or green, a zero-stop that I'd put at the second easiest to use of scopes I've tried (The Tract Toric does edge it out a little on this front). For me, the reticle was one of my biggest persuasions. I'm actually using the SCR I version (not the 2), and I love it. I know most companies have gone to the tiny dot in the middle, but the SCR have a thin cross instead. I prefer this for bench shooting, because after a few rounds the dot-reticle will disappear in a tight group and its impossible to see. The cross design is much easier. Now, if you're only taking one shot, or shooting steel, that wouldn't be an issue, but for anyone grouping, I think it's superior. I will say that the chromatic aberration and optical clarity at the highest magnification does tend to fall off a bit, but with 30x of magnification, dropping down into the 26x range is still plenty for the vast majority of people out there. If you were on the fence about buying a Burris--don't be. Every chance I get, I recommend this scope. It's usually met by a wrinkled nose and a "really? A Burris?" Whatever you think you know about this company is significantly evolved. And the XTR III is generations ahead of the XTR II. When you see a Burris XTR III mounted on PRS rifles in various company advertisements, know that's no accident. They really are that good. So good in fact, that I've swapped over two of my existing rifles, and my future builds will also have XTR's on them.

Massive field of view, great reticle. Turrets are great, perfectly damped.

Excellent image quality, best turrets.

I currently own a number of Burris scopes, a Fullfield IV 2.5-10, an XTR II 4-20, and now this XTR III 5.5-30. The XTR II is a great scope, but the XTR III is hands down better everywhere. Image quality is fantastic, turrets have a great feel to them and the size of the text is perfect. This has the best eyebox of any scope I currently own, and field of view is excellent, even in the upper mag ranges. This is not to say the XTR II isn't good, it was, but this is just better, and also why it made perfect sense to discontinue the very good XTR II 4-20, which I doubt I'll ever get rid of. I do own other brands, but I'm quickly seeing a bias in my lineup. I plan to try an XTR Pro or a Steiner T6XI next in order to sample the US made line.

Yes, I recommend this product.

No other scope in its price range can match this optic. Good glass and reliable tracking.
