The glue tubes burst open but the repair seems very very strong

The tubes split open so they we're not reusable but in general the bumper is very well repaired and seems very strong. I would buy this product again for sure.

Q: Can this product repair broken bumper tabs and is it strong enough or do I have to buy some kind of bumper weld kit? 2010 civic.

  • A: Don’t think so…great product for filling dents and divers but not meant for cracks

Q: Is this product the best choice for bumper repair? The left over two-part filler/adhesive cracked when slightly flexed.

1 Answer
  • A: The two-part filler is an epoxy which cures to a fairly hard, tough material. It will flex very slightly when in place. It was not designed for use in highly flexible repairs.

Q: I have a corner of my bumper that I cracked off and used a plastic staple welding gun on the backside to connect the piece back on however the front side I want to fill in the crack and paint over. Would this product work for that? (My cars a 06 c230)

1 Answer
  • A: The Bumper Repair Kit is suitable to fill the crack or split, however, it will not provide sufficient strength to hold/support the broken piece completely. Your decision to heat weld the two pieces together is probably the best approach, depending on the plastic.

Q: Could this product be used to fix small 1-2 inch crack on the button of the side skirt ? My vehicle model is Hyundai sonata, the small crack on the button if my side skirt was caused as a result of mishandling the right position of my jack. Thanks

  • A: Yes. First clean and dry the repair area. Prepare area: V-groove front side of repair and sand back side of area to be reinforced using 80 grit sandpaper either by hand or using a dual action sander. Re-clean surface. If repair is a tear/rip bond with the plastic weld adhesive component. Then complete repair using the semi-rigid epoxy components. Note: The plastic component is likely PP or TPO based. In order to effect a successful repair in this case, the substrate would likely require application of a suitable adhesion promoter.

Q: Is this the right solution for the following bumper labeling: PP, PPO, TPE, PUR, or TPUR?

1 Answer
  • A: For bumpers made with PP, TPO, TPE you will need to apply an adhesion promoter specially designed for this application to develop proper adhesion.

Q: I need to repair 2 inch crack starting from top edge running down vertically on bumber. Very small gap. Should I stop drill crack and repair from behind making a solder vedge along crack then fill and add patch sand and paint?

1 Answer
  • A: Using a lint free cloth, clean surfaces to be repaired. Allow cleaner to flash‐off completely. For best results, repair small cracks/tears/rips by first bonding together with the plastic adhesive weld #2. Mist both sides (one side only of larger crack/rip) with plastic adhesive activator #1. Allow 15‐20 seconds to flash off. Then apply bead of plastic adhesive weld #2 to both sides (to other side on larger crack) and press part firmly together. After initial cure, mist entire bonded area lightly with adhesive activator #2 to ensure through-cure of bonded area. V‐Groove/taper front side of repair and sand back side of area to be reinforced using 80 grit sandpaper either by hand or using a dual action sander. Re‐clean surface and allow to flash‐off completely. On backside use reinforcing tape over a tear/rip/hole. Note 1 below. Mix epoxy repair 1:1 until a uniform color is achieved. Apply to back side of repair completely covering reinforcing tape material. Apply epoxy to front of repair and let dry 30 min @ 22°C/75°F. Sand with 120, 180, and 220 grit sandpaper either by hand or using a dual action sander. [Note 1: For best results spray a light mist coat of Dominion Sure Seal Adhesion Promoter SXPP24 onto the prepared bare substrate and allow to thoroughly dry. Minimum dry time 30 min.]

Q: Will this product work to repair a Yakima skybox? I understand that the skybox is made of ABS plastic.

1 Answer
  • A: Yakima boxes are made from ABS plastic and their recommendation is that small cracks maybe fixed using an ABS cement (solvent blend that dissolves the ABS) similar to that used by plumbers on ABS.
