Great family tent

My family loves this tent! It is fairly easy to set up. We like the vestibule portion for your shoes and you can even put a porta potty in there for emergencies with the kids :) The space inside is awesome and fits our four cots with room to spare.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Lots of Ventilation!!!

This tent worked really well on the hot sunny days, keeping us nice and cool, shaded from the sun and with a breeze running through. However, sometimes I wish there was a way to cover up those mesh sides. Especially when it gets cold outside and we're trying to stay warm. On our second outing, we discovered the sides make it okay to have a fuel powered stove or heater inside without the worry of passing out from the fumes. Unlike other tents that warn you to do all your cooking outside. If you're looking for a Tent with Windows on each side to see outside and let light in, look elsewhere! The only opening to see outside is the entry door. To have light inside without requiring lots of batteries, try taking some Solar Powered Garden Lights! Let them charge up in the sun all day, then take them inside in the evening, and put them back outside when you go to bed. It's also a great way to highlight where your tent pegs are in the ground so you don't just see the tent and forget there's lines sticking out!

Yes, I recommend this product.

IT'S BIGGER THAN IT LOOKS!!!

Here's a few pictures I took once I had it set up in the garden for a trial run. First thing I recommend is to get a second bag, to avoid the pain of trying to fit everything in one again. I've got the main shell and the poles in the original bag, and the roof or fly in another Next thing I would recommend, is that you get some decent sized tent spikes, for the little wire ones the give bend really easy, and then you're stuck with a bunch of bent nails. Also, get some really long thick nails for when you camp in an area where the soil is full of stones that are too hard for the plastic ones to go through. And don't forget to take a good hammer! And a final hint, get a set of plastic shelves where you just stick the legs into the corners. Easy to put together and take apart, and good to keep your electronics (cell, camera, etc) off the ground. They usually come in sets of 5 shelves, but when you go camping, just take what you need.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Well worth the Money!

Perfect for Tall people! It stands at 6'6" standing freely, but if you tie it down snug, it goes down to 6'3". The Tent itself is 13 wide x 9 feet deep. See Picture 1. With the roof or fly put over top, it extends 4 feet out over the entrance, which is why they say it's 13 feet square. That extra space serves as a front hall to leave your muddy boots and fishing gear, rather than tracking the mud in. See Picture 2. The front has zippers going from the top right down to the bottom, so you can roll it up while you're there, and let it down and zip it up while you're away. On our first night, we put a supported Queen size bed on the Left side facing inwards, giving room on either side of the bed to walk around it, and folding chairs and a card table on the Right side. For chilly nights, we took some 12 volt Electric Blankets that Canadian Tire sells, powered by a Car Battery and Charged by a Solar Panel, all from Canadian Tire. Also... Canadian Tire has some lights that are meant for clamping to the handles of BBQ's to see what you're doing, even when it gets dark. We bought two of those and clamped one Inside the tent, and one Outside. Perfect for when "Mother Nature" calls in the middle of the night and you want to see those lines pegged in the ground rather than trip over them!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Q: What shape is the actual tent? This image makes it hard to tell. Square? Hexagon?

  • A: The Main Living Space is not Square but Rectangular at 12 feet wide by 8 feet deep (deep = from the entrance to the back wall). However the Fly (or Roof) extends out over the front entrance another 4 feet, making it 12 Feet square. That acts like a front porch for a couple of chairs or keeping your fishing rods and sports stuff. The picture I've added, shows the front rolled up and held up with some Velcro straps. The best thing I found with that front bit is... on wet rainy days, it enables me to get out of the rain, so I can take my boots and coat off, then open the main entry and go inside. Unlike other Tents where the moment you open the door, you're letting the rain in, and as you go inside you're dripping water everywhere. Not with this one!!!

Q: density of tent fabric? i understand the higher number is heavier, eg 800mm vs 1600mm, but this tent offers no info. and some broadstone tents now have 190T as a fabric, what does that mean in relation to thickness?

  • A: The material on this tent is very light, but the density is very tightly woven that it feels like a waterproof shower curtain.
