Very Good Quality but.....

I purchased this bag and was very pleased with the quality and features but, it is too small for my intended purpose. I think the curvature of the bag on the frame reduces the usable space within. I returned it and traded it in for an Outbound Canyon 45 which will be more practical for my needs.

The quality for the price was my reason for the purchase. other brands with similar look and quality where twice in price and not all much better. someone looking to get a great pack for hiking, biking, camping. this will be a great purchase for you and not hurt your pocket book.

Excellent value for a day pack

I recently purchased this pack for my trip to Mount Kilimanjaro. It was comfortable and held up perfectly during the trek. I would agree that the volume is less than listed, but I found it perfect for what I carried: 2L camelbak hydration system, 2 additional 1L Nalgene bottles of water, rain gear, warm layer, gloves, snacks, sunscreen, etc. I loved that the zips for the small side pockets were accessible when the pack was on. My biggest complaint is that it was difficult to get the hose of the camelbak through the small hole at the top of the pack - I'll be enlarging this for my next trip. Would also recommend they include straps for attaching poles in the next redesign. Quite happy with this purchase.

volume capacity less than advertised

This is a nice bag with excellent features, but its volume capacity is much less than 38 litres. I compared it with my wifes 30L Eddie Bauer Adventure bag and it has only about 2/3 of the capacity of the EB backpack. I would estimate the capacity to be no more than 25 L.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: External Frame? The Description says there is an external frame, but I don't see it in the pics. Can anyone help out on this?

A: I bought this for my wife and our kids. It isn't really an external frame. It is an integrated frame. The kidney pad and the top of the shoulder straps are attached to top and bottom of the bag. The frame is like two springs integrated into the bag that run between those connection points. Essentially it does two things. First it hold the bag away from and off your back creating an air space between the bag and your back. Second the load is distributed between your lower back and the chest strap. I have to say this is actually a very comfortable back to hike with.
