Q: can these be installed on an outside door

A: While these locks can be installed on an exterior door – we really would only recommend 46-2645, which is an entry lever (meaning it has a key and can be locked from the outside). The other two items 46-2647 and 46-2775 serve different functions and are not recommended on the outside of a house for security reasons: · 46-2647 – Brinks Passage Lever: This would NOT be recommended for the outside of your house as there is no locking function. This type of lever is ideal for un-lockable functionality – i.e. a bedroom, closet or other room where locking is not needed. · 46-2775 – Schlage Privacy Lever: This would be a lever that is lockable from the inside of a room – i.e. a bathroom or bedroom. This is recommended for the interior of your house and includes a locking button to keep others out of the desired room. For added security on the outside of the house we would also recommend a deadbolt such as 46-2658.
