Q: what temperature is required to melt it?

A: You have to get the base materialover840 degrees f. Do not hear the basematerial to the yellow melting stage of steel you will not get a good braze. Remember the base material and the material you want to braze to it are the important temperatures don't heat the brazing rod with the torch flame you will get a porous poor adhesion. Good luck.

Q: Can I use it for Food Grade Stainless steel?

A: The 58-8095 flux-cored blazing rods (KH481) works well with cast iron, malleable, galvanized iron, steel, brass, copper, and generic metal. Not recommended for stainless or aluminum alloys.

A: Our KH481 Flux coated brazing rods are designed for gas brazing steel, select copper alloys, cast iron, nickel alloys and stainless steel. Preheating is recommended in some applications.
