Q: We were given an inexpensive one for our kids yrs ago. They tried in park sand & the device became full of sand and never really worked. Looking for something more functional now that they are older. Will this have sand get stuck inside? Does it work?

Q: I lost my cell phone on the beach. It must be switched off now. Can I use this detector to track the phone?

A: Darz - headphones are not required but are suggested. They save battery life and allow you to hear small signals while blocking out ambient noise. The coil and shaft can be submerged in water but be careful not to get the control box wet. Thank you and happy hunting.

Q: Just wondering if this product (if not then what brand) is suitable for under water use, I lost a ring in a lake (waist deep) and am desperate to find it !

A: This really depends on the object, its size (mass), and type of soil. This unit will detect a coin size (quarter) up to 6 inches and a “larger” object up to 6 feet.

Q: What are the dimensions of this product when it is unassembled? Will it fit a suitcase?

A: The longest piece is the pole and arm rest which measures 29” (73.66cm). They can unscrew the arm rest that will save a few inches.
