It failed detecting studs rather metals like drywall screws, it is better to be able disabling metal sensors so could detect wood stud.

was constantly reading metal but could never find a stud. even passing over walls where I already knew there was a stud it wouldn't work properly. save your money and buy a zircon or a magnetic stud finder.

Love that it shows me where the wires and studs are. My favorite is I can use the hole and make a mark so I don’t loose my spot. Comes with a case for easy storage. Works so good. Highly highly recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lightweight, durable, and fairly easy to use locating studs, and metal, but more troublesome locating electrical. My experience locating electrical wires for me was mixed success, I renovated a 63 year old lake cabin and know where electrical Romex was run in my 2x4 construction home. As the manual states, it is easier to find energized wiring while my success rate indicated it still was a hit or miss proposition thru half inch drywall. Most other uses worked as advertised, like finding metal or wood studs was just as easy using more inexpensive studfinders. The center ring was a great added feature for marking the wall but a little short sighted for professional carpenters using the square pencils because they don’t fit in the opening. My biggest beef with preparing to use the GMS 120-27 was the manual, it is poorly laid out for device familiarity and Bosch (for such a high quality company; based on previous purchases) should seek out and hire better (read much better) technical report writers, my experience indicates if the user finds it difficult to find information in the manual, user satisfaction suffers overall. For example, Page 1 and 2 provide a pictograph of the device but it is 10 pages later you will find the Functional Description of each itemized point in the Pictograph, this results in many page flips for the user. Bosch should also remove optional accessories from the main pictograph to avoid confusion and label as such on a separate page to clearly indicate “Available for purchase separately”. Overall a great device to have and use but widen the hole for carpenter pencils and refine the electrical function.
