Works Okay with Modification

This is a small feeder that holds approx 4 cups of seed. Poor design. There is nowhere for the birds to sit, so they frantically flap their wings while trying to peck at the seed. We cut a board and screwed it to the bottom, so now the little birds have a place to perch. While the squirrels cannot eat directly, the unit is very light weight and they tip it when they jump on it, seeds fall out, and then they feast. It slows the squirrels down, but doesn't stop them. Product does not work as is. If you can modify it, it works okay, not great.

this feeder is very light, and the squirrels hang upside down, tip the feeder sideways and dump all the bird seed out. so, not really squirrel proof

Mostly Squirrel‑Proof, but Not Squirrel‑Impossible

I really like the Blue Squirrel Proof Hanging Bird Feeder overall. It’s sturdy, holds a generous 2.5 lbs of seed, and the birds took to it right away. The design definitely slows the squirrels down… but let’s just say they’re persistent little engineers.
One particularly determined squirrel has figured out that if he hangs dramatically off the very edge like a tiny acrobat, he can still dig in and grab a snack. It’s not a full buffet for him, but he gets enough to feel victorious. Meanwhile, the birds still get plenty, and the feeder itself has held up beautifully through all the antics.

Blue feeder

Bought this squirrel proof feeder 2 weeks ago. The little birds love it. The squirrels can open the top and get the seeds. They love it. I liked the feeder so much I bought another one. Great price and hold plenty of sunflower seeds.
