Strong motor, cheap plastic string delivery design

Powerful motor but the string trimmer spool housing only lasted less than a year. To make it worse a universal (read better designed) trimmer spool housing in not available for this model. It blooks like the only way I can use this trimmer is to buy a B&D string spool housing and wait for it to wear out, again. I'm not just talking about the spools which get eaten up underneath, but the all three parts, the outer housing, the orange cap and the spools don't last under normal use.

Hard working tool for the DYI Lady Home Gardner

I've used this trimmer for a number of years. Great for both edging and trimming those tight areas around light posts that the mower can't reach as well as edging my 100ft driveway. It's easy to switch between trim, easy to change the string spool, and easy to be cleaned up. I am a female, 70+ years old who does her own1/2 acre yard. I have used other peoples trimmer brands and they were just too heavy! I use a rapid charger so I can take a break between front & back yards (Don't want heat stroke from south Georgia summers), I would buy this product again...definitely!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Trimmer head fell partway out of housing, ruined

I bought this string trimmer in April 2024. 2 days ago (August 2, 2025), the trimmer head fell part way out of its housing, as if a bearing or retainer had given way. It is now inoperable. I do not recommend this product.

Works well but I wish was more durable.

I enjoy landscaping areas of my 200 acre property but I am 65 and have musculoskeletal problems so a lighter cordless electric is mandatory for me. Given that, this appears to be the best on the market. I have three batteries which I charge each day and that gives me 45-60 minutes of work time which is about what I can do anyway. No problems with the string advancement. The major issue is just that it isn't heavy duty enough for my work. Current unit just died and I'm ordering my fourth. I can't get one to last through the second year.

Works Great!

I had the older version of this trimmer for years. After it gave out, I decided to get a gas one, which worked well, but I also missed the cordless one so I ordered this newer one. I read mixed reviews with some saying the newer model wasn’t as good. I took a chance because I liked my other one and wanted to be able to use the batteries I had for it. I’m not sure what the complaints were about because this one works just as well as the older version. The auto-feed works great, and the line cuts cleanly. I’m thinking the reviewers that said the blade on the guard didn’t cut the line because it’s wrapped in tape for shipping, and you have to take that off. I’ve had zero issues and would recommend this trimmer. Oh, and the old batteries work in it (photo attached)!

Yes, I recommend this product.

1 Answer
  • A: Runtime will depend on many factors (length of grass, application, etc.), but on average it will run for 45 minutes.
