I have had several of this model Bissell over the years.... I am sad it is no longer available and Cleanview models are now only 8amp. Have just purchased another Bissell yesterday.... Cleanview model2492N. Hope it is as good as the older ones!

This thing is a total piece of trash! It is hard to push, it loses suction after a few passes on a carpet becasue the filters clog up. Have to CONSTANTLY wash the bottom filter. Definatly going to be buying an Amway ClearTrak like my Grandmother did when she was an Amway IBO 25 years ago and her vacuum is still working just fine!
Point of my review DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM NO MATTER WHAT THE SALE PRICE COULD BE!

Not good for wood floors

I find that it does not do such a great job on my wood floors. Tends to just blow dust around. Notice when finished the amount of dust/dirt that has collected on the outside of the vacuum itself. Also find that the filter clogs up easy and has to frequently be thouroughly cleaned to keep maximum suction (more than other units I have owned previously). Have to admit though that the suction is pretty decent, has a long cord, attachments are ok, and is fairly lite. Probably better suited for people with carpets.

The vacuum works great on carpets but not on my hardwood floors. Tends to blow the dust all over the place. If you have just laminate or hardwoods stay away.

A: The vacuum itself is a bit too wide to use on most stairs, however the on-board tools do the job well, if you don't mind carrying the actual vacuum along with you, every 3-4 stairs, once you've surpassed the reach of the extension arm.

A: Depends on how soiled or how much hair you have in your place. I clean/empty after each use, but filters get washed every 3-4 uses.

Q: Is the vacuum good on hardwood floors? Our house is 80% hardwood floors and want to get a vacuum that can do the hardwood floors and carpets.

A: This product can be used for hardwood floor and it won't scratch it. It has few settings on the top to adjust brush heights and just select bare floor setting and it will do the job.

A: To push around it isn't too too bad, lifting might be a bit awkward. I would ask a store clerk for some help and try it out in store 1st to see how you can manage it. But personally overall I do not find this vacuum to be a good buy. The filter system need too much maintenance and is messy to clean.

A: Yes. It has a hard plastic canister that is removed by sliding a lever over and the canister can be easily removed, emptied and replaced again.
