Great Pet Gate, Probably not the Best Baby Gate

It works great for keeping my cat for scratching at the door during the night. I would say do not buy if you’re looking for a baby gate as it is very hard to open/close because of the locking mechanism one handed/ while holding something.

Q: How does this attach to the sides of the doorways/walls? Does it need to be screwed in? Does it cause any damage to the walls?

A: Yes...both sides need to be screwed in. At some point when you remove the gate, you will have holes to fill. The gate is awesome because it rolls out of the way so easily.

A: We use ours on our deck to stop our daughter’s dog going down the steps when they come to visit. The release will freeze if the weather is too cold, but can be warmed with a hot cloth or heat pack.

Q: Is this gate easy for children 5+ to open and close? I'm looking for a gate to keep our large breed puppy down stairs but my children also need to beable to easily use it

A: A 5 year old might have some trouble as you have to turn and hold a twistable piece as you release the gate, the gate is then on a spring which winds in the fabric automatically. It would need a bit of practice. It’s a great gate if you don’t have room for one that swings open.

A: There was a previous model that was recalled but it had a different style code. We have confirmation from the vendor that Canadian Tire did not receive any units of the old model – our stock is totally safe.
