The Bily Retractable Safety Gate, in a clean white finish, is designed for versatile use in doorways, hallways, porches, patios, or at the bottom of stairs. Its sturdy mesh barrier retracts when not in use, avoiding any tripping hazards. The frame can be mounted either on the inside or outside for added convenience. The gate fits openings up to 55" in width and stands at a height of 32.5". This safety gate also includes two sets of mounting brackets for easy relocation.

DO NOT BUY

This should've been recalled. My baby is able to regularly open the gate by pulling on it because the latch slips off easily and the gate will snap off and roll back suddenly. I wish I can still return this because it is worthless and I have to buy another gate since this cannot prevent your baby from escaping.

Pretty good gate

This gate was okay to install, not terribly difficult, but not a 5 minute job. It's really nice that inserts are provided to bump out the top portion of the wall securing portion to balance out the baseboard attachment at the bottom. The retraction mechanism is quiet, with no clicking sound, so it is great for the top of the stairs near bedrooms. The retractor spring doesn't seem to be the strongest, so you need to make sure there is tension on the gate before having it roll back up or it can bind a little. Overall, pretty good gate.

This gate is better than I thought it would be. We have a 54” opening and use the gate to block off the 1 year old from the dogs’ food. She bangs against it and reaches up and pulls down on it but it doesn’t budge. The material is flexible so there’s a small amount of warping after being attacked, but it still rolls back up perfectly. While it says up to 55”, I wouldn’t recommend using it on an opening bigger than 54”, as you need to unlock it and pull it for a bit of slack in order to unhook the gate from the latches. Also, operating the gate is very much a two handed operation - one hand to swivel the lock/unlock button, and the other to pull/release the gate. This can be a bit tricky on wider openings as you really have to stretch. The handle doesn’t help much as it’s close to the top of the gate, so we find the bottom latch stays hooked and you have to jiggle it to get the gate fully released. Overall, the gate is simple to install, provides an effective barrier against small children and dogs, and even comes with an extra set of mounting hardware so you move the one gate between two positions in your house should you wish. Would recommend to anyone who wants a gate but doesn’t have to space for a traditional swing gate (or who just wants a small profile gate for aesthetics).
