Q: Is it safe to keep the charger plugged-in to my vehicle for over a month while I am gone for a vacation?
11 months agoA: That’s precisely what a battery MAINTAINER is designed to do. Hopefully your battery is at or very near a full charge when you put this on. It only charges at a very low amps so it would take a week or more to bring the battery of a truck etc back to or near full. If the battery is dead, you need a new battery or a very “ big “ charger not a maintainer. This unit will keep the battery at or near fully charged while in storage. It recognizes when the available charge in the battery has dropped a bit and turns on to bring it back up again, then it shuts off and monitors t.he battery. This is especially useful if your vehicle is not being used for long periods of time as there’s always some “ drain” while the battery sits in storage.

Q: My garage is not insulated. Temperatures can get to -30° or colder. Will the BT work in these kind of temperatures?
3 years agoA: It's been below -30 to -40C this week and the LED light is green. This means my battery is fully charged. I'm using the cheaper Jr tender version on my SUV Honda Pilot. I haven't called CAA truck for 3 years.

Q: CTC’s description says ok for AGM batteries. Battery Tender safety instruction says use on lead acid only and can cause dry cell’s to explode. Can CTC please correct their info? Thankfully I read all the instructions 1st and can return it
3 years agoA: it works with flooded and AGM batteries, manual states "Dont not use with dry cells", they mean zinc-carbon, alkaline, rechargeable, lithium batteries

2 months agoA: Yes, the green flashing light turns to solid green when fully charged. If it doesn't stop flashing check to ensure you have a good ground

Q: Does the float voltage increase at lower temperatures? If so, what is the highest voltage/lowest temperature?

Q: Do I need to completely disconnect battery from the vehicle to charge, or I can leave battery connected to vehicle while charging? Would it damage car ECU?
2 years agoA: You do not need to disconnect your battery. It can be permanently wired into your system. IT’s especially handy if you leave your vehicle parked for long periods. In the winter a battery will drain and as the charge dissipates, your battery will eventually freeze and be no longer able to take a charge. I leave my motorcycle parked in an unheated garage all winter, plugged into my battery tender. No problems whatsoever

Q: I live in an area that temperatures can get to -50c will this still work when it’s that cold?
3 years agoA: I used it when it was 25 to 30 below zero and it worked well. I don't know whether I needed to or not but I did protect it with a three sided box when we had extreme winds. It was slow but when I came to terms that they weren't jumper cables I was fine and planned accordingly. Turned out a short circuit was draining the battery.
