Good cheap starter

I installed this, including the antenna under the dash - No blinking lights for me! I can remote start it from a block away (175m) which is farther than I need. I'm certain better antenna placement would greatly increase that range. The 2 way is really nice, however only 1 remote is 2 way. The other is 1 way. I used a fortin bypass module with it, which included the triple lock start with the factory remote (much less range), and this simply plugged right into the fortin module - super easy.

Starts the car

Works well. It comes with 2 remotes, one 2-way and one 1-way. I use the 2-way remote on a regular basis and it’s very convenient to know that your car has actually started instead of just playing a guessing game. It keeps all the same settings as how you left your car before you switched it off. If you keep it running for more than 10 minutes without getting in the car and inserting your key, the car automatically switches off. Distance wise, it WASN’T able to start my car while it was located at the parking lot across the street and I was on the 12th floor. But it CAN start the car once I’m on the main floor. That’s the only time I’ve tested it. I’ve had it installed for just over a month, no issues so far.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Remote starter

This isn't my first starter. I like the fact you can get fobs for them many years later when they fail.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Zero installation instructions

Works fine but comes with zero installation instructions, the manufacture refuses to give you any instructions unless your a dealer and canadian tire for legal reasons won't give you any of the wiring diagrams you need to install it, I had to hunt online forums for people who had the information required for install, once I got it installed it seems to work well so far

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: I am looking to install this on a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek Manual transmission. Will this work ? and what extra systems will I need to install? Is this possible to get installed at my local Canadian Tire ?

  • A: If you want an autostart on a manual then I strongly recommend you go see someone who does these type of jobs. Doubtful Canadian Tire will install it, I have a different one in my Subaru wrx manual but I bought this one for my girlfriends Ford escape automatic just to replace the fob which is done by also replacing the antenna and I had issues still had to go to a shop and get it sorted due to the order of the pins on the control box.

  • A: Yes. You will need an interface module as well, to bypass security and provide inputs to the remote Start module.

Q: What does bypass module do and do I need one and at what price?

  • A: From what I understand, this model allows for bypassing normal computer control. Thus allowing for custom start procedures. For example my diesel truck stock command start had a 15 min max run time. I now can run for 30 minutes, with a 30 sec start delay to allow for the air ox heater to preheat intake air. Also vehicles will start with key in ignition. Greater distance from vehicle to start is also a bonus.

  • A: Yes with the DB3 interface in combination with this remote start kit will work for your Pilot. The DB3 will need to be programmed specifically for the vehicle and an installation procedure can be obtained from whomever programs the module.

Q: I have a 2015 Hyundai Elantra with a manual transmission. Will it be possible to install a remote start with a manual trans? If so, does it require anything special compared to an automatic?

  • A: The wiring is a bit more complicated you need to hook up each individual door pin so if any door opens car shuts off and will not start
